So you are looking for VOIP service, but do you really know what that is? Do you really know what you are looking for? VOIP, also known as Voice Over IP or Voice Over Internet Protocol is not nearly as techie as it sounds, and as you understand it more, you can save a bundle on your telephone bill.

Let me explain VOIP service in layman's terms. With VOIP service, you are making and receiving telephone calls using the Internet. That is really as simple as it is. So at this point you might be saying so what? You want to know what this all means to you. Let's look at it. To surf the Internet from home, you probably already have a high-speed Internet connection, or if you do not, you are probably going to get one very soon, since more and more people are becoming "net connected" every day. And you have that today, even without a VOIP service connection, right? So you have the majority of the requirements done already.

Now let's look at your phone bill. You say you don't make very many long distance calls? That's ok, keep reading. For basic telephone service, like just having a dial tone, you are probably paying at least $25 to $30 per month. And that it without making ANY long distance calls. Now look at VOIP service, which costs $20 to $25 per month (and with the SunRocket service, optionally less than $20). Now let's say you making $10 of long distance calls each month. With traditional telephone service, that is an additional $120 per year.
